Jack, RocketLab has a unique approach to the second stage of their rocket.

Instead of placing the stage on top, as everyone else does, they put it inside the fairing and suspend it from the top.

This has two advantages. As we know, metals are strong in tension rather than compression. You can crush a can, but you cannot tear it apart. This allows the second stage to have thinner and lighter walls, making it cheaper and more efficient.

Second, the fairing it attached to the first stage, and so comes back with it for easy reuse.

Very neat, but still, competing with SpaceX and the Starship steamroller, is going to be a tall order….
